JOIN ME ON MY TRAVELS
Cuba has long been a place that I am passionate about. I had been wanting to experience Cuba long before it was open to Americans. Reading about it throughout the years enticed me and had me super curious about it. When Obama opened it in 2017, I jumped at the opportunity. With a Lonely Planet book and map in hand, I set off with my daughter to explore this mysterious place, finally!
It was surreal to say the least. The colors, the music, the people, the food and the classic cars! It’s a place difficult to describe. Yes, it’s the Caribbean but nothing like you expect. It’s a place that stood still in time. Its dilapidated and crumbling facade of the many buildings in Havana have a certain charm. The sights and sounds of the city draw you in to another era. It’s colorful and vibrant. The people are the kindest and humble you’ve every met and they exude an infectious joy!
Aside from the obvious beauty, its apparent that Cuba is in despair. It has become much more apparent over the last few years. The people need clothing, toiletries, food and just about anything you can imagine. For this reason, I decided to begin offering positive impact trips to Cuba which really helps the locals sustain a living.
There is so much to see in this beautiful place so please consider adding this to your bucket list. If you like unique vintage charm, look no further. Not to mention the food, music, drinks, waterfalls and beaches! Cuba is the birthplace of the mojito and the Canchanchara is a drink you have to try! While in Vinales, stop at La Finca for an antistress drink which is my favorite in Cuba.
By the end of 2024, I expect to have taken 50 adventurous women to this amazing place full of amazing experiences you wouldn’t expect. This has surpassed expectations for many women who have embarked on my Cuba trips throughout the last two years.
Highlights included:
Habana Vieja - convertible car tour, tour through the city streets, bicitaxi (bicycle taxi)
Vinales - tobacco farm, horseback riding through the valley, cave swimming, mural de la prehistorica, Cayo Jutias (beach) with starfish beach tour if desired
Trinidad – El Nicho Waterfalls, Playa Ancon (beach) and talk about a gorgeous colonial city.
